Project Description
Kenya 11 MW Utility-Scale Solar PV Plant
This 11 MW utility-scale solar power project supplies clean energy directly to Kenya’s national grid. Fully commissioned prior to 2024, the plant is now fully operational and delivering reliable renewable power to the region.
Engineered with EA’s high-efficiency monocrystalline modules, the project was designed to withstand Kenya’s unique high-altitude solar conditions. It provides electricity for approximately 50,000 households, significantly reducing reliance on costly diesel generators and lowering carbon emissions.
The project was implemented in partnership with Kenya’s Rural Electrification Authority, with EA Astrovolt Kenya serving as EPC contractor. Financing combined EA equity with support from local banks, showcasing a successful model for renewable energy investment in East Africa.
This solar farm has not only reinforced EA’s technological capabilities in Africa but also established a platform for training, operations, and maintenance that will support larger-scale projects in the future. Verified by Kenyan authorities and included in national energy reports, the project operates under a generation license and tariff agreement, standing as a proven example of EA’s global clean energy portfolio.
